| Meet Our Team Julie, initially a patient, has been with Dr. Johnson's office since 1997. Julie has been involved in several areas of the practice including office management, Chairside (and Child care.) Julie grew up in Glenview and is a Glenbrook South High School Alumna. She has two children, Mathew and Luke and resides in Algonquin with her husband. Julie is fluent in Spanish and can converse with patients if needed. Elizabeth, also a former patient, specializes as a Patient Insurance Consultant, and Chairside Assistant and Laboratory Technician. She has contributed to the Johnson Orthodontic Team for almost 15 years. She is fluent in Polish and converses with our Polish speaking patients. Elizabeth resides in Glenview with her two children, Peter and Veronica, and husband Lukasz. Michelle, also a former patient of Johnson Orthodontics, has been working with the team since 1988. With over 15 years experience at chairside, she focuses on working with the patients one-on-one. She has three daughters - Amber, Allison and Amanda who are all patients of Johnson Orthodontics with spectacular smiles. She resides in Vernon Hills with husband Dan. Jennifer, has been a chairside technician for four years and has participated in graphic advertising and website concerns. She is a Glenbrook South and St. Norbert College Alumna. She resides in Gurnee with her husband Paul and son Anthony. Monika has been a clinical chairside assistant for three years with Johnson Orthodontics. Recently, she has completed Orthodontic treatment at Johnson Orthodontics and has a beautiful smile. Monika can also speaks Polish fluently. Currently, she is completing her second year as a dental hygienist. Carolyn has been an Orthodontic Laboratory Technician for over 20 years with Johnson Orthodontics. Her overall career experience includes over 35 years of experience in the field as a laboratory Technician. She resides in Lake Bluff with her husband Kent who is a Presbyterian Minister in Lake Forest. It Takes A Team The team leader is the orthodontist. But the successful orthodontic practice depends on a variety of other professional and clerical staff members, such as: * Treatment Coordinator * Scheduling Coordinator * Financial Administrator * Orthodontic Chairside Technician/Assistant * Orthodontic Laboratory Technician What Does it Take to Join the Team? The various positions on the orthodontic team require different levels of education and experience. Ask your orthodontist for information regarding your career choices. Here are a few examples of the type of work, education and skills for various positions: Orthodontic Office Administrator—schedule appointments; clerical and bookkeeping duties; prepare financial arrangements for patients; phone contacts with patients, referring dentists, and other dental specialists and doctors; patient service relations. Orthodontic Chairside Assistant—assists the orthodontist with treatment, takes x-rays/records, educates the patient about oral health, serves as a key communication link between the patient and the doctor, prepares teeth for the placement of the brackets, ligation of the orthodontic wires, and instructs the patient. Orthodontic Assistants also play key roles motivating patients to do their part in achieving successful results from their treatment. Orthodontic Laboratory Technician—prepares orthodontic study models, makes orthodontic retainers, designs appliances for tooth and bone movement, coordinates office needs with outside labs. |
